Isabel Moreno (Dani Garza), a poor young woman from South America with a fierce love for her family, makes the treacherous journey of crossing the border into the United States. With her mother deathly ill, thoughts of making enough money to save her pushes Isabel forward to Philadelphia.
In the States, she finds comfort in her cousin Martin (Victor Velez) who previously made the journey. She is embraced by Gloria and Maurice (Tatiana St. Phard and Tyrone Holt), who care for her like she was one of their own. She joins the urban couple and is surprised to find a new family far away from home. What’s more surprising is that she unexpectedly falls in love.
In just a moment’s time, two hearts lock at first sight - leaving two lives changed forever. Christopher Fox (Mark McGraw) instantly connects with the woman in red who stands out in a crowd of hundreds. He finds what he’s been looking for his entire life – a woman with passion, a woman with character - a woman full of grace. Entering unfamiliar territory, Christopher and Isabel learn about each other and begin to see themselves differently by finding new meaning in their lives.
Trouble stirs when Gloria and Maurice are skeptical of Christopher and warn Isabel of the dangers of complicating her life after she has sacrificed so much. Trouble deepens when her love interest turns out to be an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) Agent. Christopher is the one person that could put her right back where she started.
Suspecting that Isabel is an illegal immigrant, Christopher conceals his career from her while taking great pains in keeping his worlds separate. He hides his relationship with Isabel from his long-time friend and work partner Gene (John D’Alonzo) and engages in questionable behavior by buying the silence of the neighborhood thug, Peter-Pete (Barret Mindell).
Faced with an ultimatum, Isabel is forced to choose between her freedom and the love of her life. She must question her loyalties; evaluate what is at stake and make a decision that is true to the woman she has become. Through Isabel’s relationship with her American family and her new love, she questions herself and the world around her. By standing on her own two feet, she learns to trust herself and finds an inner core strength that she didn’t know she had.
In ways that she could never imagine, Isabel finds “home”.
